Tanyce Addison Announces Run for School Board


“I am running for the state school board because I have firsthand experience educating children in public schools,” said Addison. “I think that our education system must driven by creativity and innovation; guided with imagination and exploration to help children develop their interests. Critical thinking and a great work ethic are skills that must be harnessed. All children in Ohio deserve a quality public education, and I will be a strong voice for Ohio’s children.”

Addison has served as a public school teacher for more than 30 years. She taught music for children of all ages in the public schools and created programs honoring U.S. veterans in which students performed at veterans hospitals and homes.

Addison has received numerous awards for her work promoting public education in Ohio, including:

The Elgin High School Teacher of the Year Award in 1995 and 2011 The VFW Post #7201 Teacher of the Year Award in 2011

The 1st District includes the 1st, 12th and 26th Senate Districts, encompassing Williams, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, Allen, Mercer, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Champaign, Union, Sandusky, Seneca, Wyandot, Crawford, Marion and Morrow counties and parts of Darke, Shelby and Fulton counties.

Addison studied music education at The Ohio State University and is an alumni of the Ohio State University Marching Band. Addison continued her education at the Vandercook Conservatory of Music of Ashland and Walsh Universities. She and her husband, Frank Addison, have been married for 36 years and have five children, as well as five grandchildren.
